Fergie Enlist Nicki Minaj in Her New Song, Announces New Album

Fergie has announced via twitter her sophomore, “visual experience” album, Double Dutchess. Along with the pop star’s first new album in over ten years, she also released a new single from said album, “You Already Know” featuring Nicki Minaj. As most people, I think the only relevant thing Fergie has really done since “Fergalicious” is ruining New Year's Eve every year. Setting this aside, Fergie has actually been active in recent years releasing a slew of singles that will be coming out on this new album. The most recent is a, let's say, interesting song titled “M.I.L.F $” that was accompanied by an even more interesting video.

The other singles that Fergie has released in the past few years have not been very interesting at all but this new song, “You Already Know”, brings me back to Fergie fever. The hook on this song is incredible and when the beat drops into the chorus… damn. Structurally this is a basic pop-rap song but explores the formula to its fullest. Fergie not only is on the chorus but raps as well. The bridge is accompanied by some lively horns and creates some needed variety in the song. Nicki, who has been heavy on the collabs this year, spits a great verse as well. I’m not sure how this Fergie album will turn out but this song is pretty fantastic.

Happy Jamming!
